I must express my deep appreciation for your review of Disrobing the Aboriginal Industry, by Frances Widdowson and Albert Howard, The College Quarterly 11(4). The book is indeed a screed that is at once racist and ignorant, so it was not surprising that it was greeted with a fair amount of vitriol and personal invective. What I found refreshing about your review was that you maintained just the right amount of personal detachment to engage in a dispassionate assessment of its academic merits, or lack thereof. The end result was a credible and effective expose on why the book should never have been published, that its lack of effective argument or foundation in research just did not measure up to scholarly standards.
